Can you really notice the difference with the herrod gear? Is it worth the $$$? Please do tell as I'm very interested but am a bit weary as the terri is a heavy car and I really want to feel the difference if i'm spending thast kind of money.

Hi Guys,
Yes, the difference is REALLY noticible.
I have all along been having troubles with eratic low down performance, and are waiting for a response from the dealer. The Herrod system hasn't fixed this, but has lifted performance across the board.
When the engine decides to give full power, it HOWLS. Performance out of tight corners, using the manual shift, is great !!!
Am waiting for the Stealth mods to see how much better it can get, but not till Ford sorts out the existing issues. Maybe its because I'm in Darwin and it is hot, but the ECU is not coping with something. It runs very rich, even after the free-er exhaust and CAI and airfilter, which is not right !!!
I am trying to get the dealer to Diagnose, and find out if it is the ECU or a sensor malfunction. I am asking for them to plug in their monitor, and come for a drive, then let me see the figures when it goes well, and when it doesnt. There has to be a difference somewhere, and the Dyno has proved it.
At least they are not trying to play games because I have the headers & exhaust.
Rob has done a beautiful job with the headers & piping. Installed really easily (did it myself).

Are Mudspats worth fitting guys?
They look good - I got mine in my free $1000 worth of stuff so price wasn't an issue. They're well fitted so they look original. My thoughts are that if they can protect the car a bit from rocks and tar then they're worth it.

What problems.
I found mine lost all it's power steer fluid overnight on the garage floor ... not happy ... it ended up being a rubber o-ring ... Ford replaced the main guts of the power steering unit.
Someone else I knew, their TS overheated on the way home from the dealer on the first day ... the thermo fans weren't plugged in (that was nice to know).
I have a Silhouette Ghia AWD, that was bought in late January. Only one quality issue, which is the driver's power window dieing on my Wife, and then having the worst customer service from the dealer (big one in Sydney's south, i.e. Rockdale) Otherwise no problems with car at 5 thousand kms.

On a very hard LH or RH decline turn, there is a thumping noise from the upper strut / or stru braces? I can't pick the exact problem because it's infrequent.
Not entirely sure, but I think this may be stability or traction control cutting in. Others in this forum surely would be able to pinpoint it exactly, expecially those who have done some windy hilly stuff, as we dun not 'ave 'ills here.
The rear window wiper arm system should be a similar or mirror reverse set up of the headlight system. this would mean not having to make to conscious move off the wheel and manipulative turning of the wiper control system.
Again, I might be barking up the wrong tree, but if your front wipers are on (Int or full) the rear wiper cuts in automatically when reverse is activated. If it is raining, just drop the front wipers on and the rear will assist if reversing. I think this is a TS and Ghia feature (similar to the Fairmont cars).

TX as well ... it's an all model feature ... I have no issues with the switchgear at all on the Territory ... everything falls to hand (except the foglight swtich as mentioned ... LOL)
I don't find the tailgate too heavy at all ... OK it can be a bit of a handful, but I don't see the need to use both hands to open it ... even if I have something in the other hand.
The suspension clunking is a normal new car issue ... the first few services ... have out service department tighten everything back up again ... it's normal with a lot of new cars.
I agree with the tailgate dripline ... I have been dripped on many times ... also at the corners it drips down and splashes back into the rear luggage compartment as well (when door is open full) ... not good.

Grahill, thanks for the reply's .. with the front strut brace noise, it could be stability control. I didn't think of that. On the wiper issue, I'm talking about the actual control inside the cabin. If you have a look at the X5 setup (and Ford had one here in pieces before they were released), or even any BMW sedan, the rear wiper control is a doozy to use. With the bigT an absolute spray machine, the rear wipers need to be used often. with no intermitten switch on them, the actuation swith is a bitch.
Cheers

The Mobile phone presenter is such a waste of money in the Territory - it puts the phone so far away from your line of sight and so far back in the cabin that you can neither easily see the phone nor use it... IMHO. At least I didnt pay money for mine, it was part of the accessory voucher from Ford at the end of 2004.

Finally ordered my new Terri last week. After much deliberation on colour, and thanks to Steve from Cairns who sent me photos of his Mercury Silver Ghia, I went with Silhouette as SWMBO will probably buy the car from the company I work for when it's replacement time. She was definite in her preference.
The final product is:
SY Silhouette AWD Ghia
3rd row in leather
running boards
2300kg tow bar
darkest legal tint
f & r mudspats
carpet mats
Non-genuine 10.2 inch DVD (finally some peace from 3yo and 5 yo kids!)
Think that's all - any suggestions? Was thinking of adding front tow eye but can't find a photo of one on the forum or on Ford website.
Thanks to all who contribute to this fantastic forum - it is an amazing resource with some outstanding people involved.
Have a SIDO and may have delivery by Christmas (I'm in Perth) so hopefully I'll have a big present!
Cheers

APR 04
GHIA
RWD
Lightening Strike
7 Seat
Pollen Filter, Max Tint, Window Shades, Bonnet Protector, Fog Light Protector, Rear Spoiler, 5 by Alloy Mags, Territory Floor Mats, Standard Tow bar.
Done 48,000 km with no problems. Wife likes, kids like, I like.
Quick question, where it the tow hook supposed to be. I checked the manual, and says it should be with the Jack. Checked there, and no hook?
hi xeespdave. Tow hook is optional. screws in at the front below the bumper for the front and not held on by much! Haven't seen a rear one but seem to remember it says not in conjunction with the towbar. There is more info in the threads - try this http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=16510&highlight=hook one.
...... Haven't seen a rear one but seem to remember it says not in conjunction with the towbar......
It says that now! :nothappy:
Possibly because of all the whinging I did on here because Ford charged me for both F&R towhooks, however as I also optioned the towbar the rear towhook was deleted. You can't have both.
It's located on the lower RHS at the rear behind the contrasting panel (black piece on TX & TS, silver on Ghia). It was only while on the NSW Territory BDO that I realised that I was the only one with a small oval shaped pop-out piece in this panel - it's purpose presumably is to allow access for fitting the towhook. If I pop it out I see the corner of the towbar. Nevermind, it might make a nice place to locate a reversing camera in my SX without butchering any panels :nana:
