If you have any cool tips to share, jot them down here...
1. FOR TS and GHIA MODELS...If you have "Dual Zone Climate Control", you may have noticed that when you first get in, the drivers side controls both left and right temperatures until the front passenger adjusts their side. Without turning off the engine and removing the key, you can set this to be dual control again by lowering the drivers side temperature until it gets to "LOW" then increasing it up again. Both sides will now increase at the same temperature. You may also notice the front passenger can't get down to "LOW", only 18 degrees.
2. FOR TS and GHIA MODELS...Finding out how accurate your cruise speed is. Simply get up to speed on a flat piece of road, activate the cruise (e.g. 100kph). Now using the Comand Centre navigate to "Average Speed" and press RESET. You accurate current speed should now be displayed. It seems that Fords speedo's are about 4kph out.
3. ASSUMING ALL MODELS...A pollen filter can be installed behind the glovebox. Open it and you will notice a gap for the interchangeable cartridge.

Better to actually be doing slightly under than slightly over.

Sure is better to be safe than sorry. But for interests sakes only, it is worth noticing the difference between the speedo and the average speed.

Advanced Command Centre.
To reset all resettable trip items at the same time. Scroll through until you get to a resettable (example average speed), and hold down the reset button until a beep is heard.
All trip computer items will be reset at the same time.

Sure is spot on. My Territory has a 3km/h difference between GPS and speedo as does our Magna. I'm sure I read somewhere once that this difference was built in deliberatly to all speedometers.
I found mine was going at 95kmh on one of those roadside speedo tests when the speedo was indicating 100kmh.
I'm happy that it reads 5k's high rather than 5 k's low!!

Unrelated topic: Seeing as I had the larger tyres on my AU ute (215/60R16 ... instead of 215/55R16) ... I tested with a Garmin GPS ... and found mine to be literally dead on the correct speed ... well .... was saying I was doing 80.1km/h when at the 80km/h stated speed.
Was similar with other speeds as well ... tested at 60, 80, 100 and 120km/h ... and I was within 1km/h of the speed shown on my speedo.
Now that I have gone to a 235/45R17 (smaller circumference tyre) ... my speedon will be showing more than my real speed (good in a way).
I need to test this again ... as the GPS was a mate's.
I am looking at getting a Garmin GPS very soon though ... can be very handy ... seeing as my fiancee is hopeless with directions ... hee hee.

They deliberately have a conservative margin for error on the lower side for the reasons already mentioned above. Normally only a few kph.

Hmm, I found out the hard way my speedo reads about 8-10% low...

I have a TS and I spose it's the same on all with dual climate control.
If you want to get back to both sides the same just press and hold AUTO button for two seconds. Easy

Territory, Yes I can confirm the Climate control settings are remembered by the remote keypad. Not the radio settings though so the AM/FM debate will continue between myself and my wife :mrsparkle
Mirror settings being remembered by the control would be great though.

If you get an aftermarket dash mat like the ones autobarn sell, which are 100 times better quality then the Ford ones they have a piece to cover the hole for the autoheadlights, if you leave this piece in it covers your auto headlight sensor which means you can use the auto lights day and night.
Now i just leave my on auto and they come on and off 24/7.
Theres really not alot of tricks with these cars. the only other thing is you can the Police mode loaded into your cars computer so that on the digital screen it gives you a digital readout of your speedo.
I also forgot the 2 stage unlocking that some people may not know about where you can set the keypads to unlock just the drivers door or all 5 doors. Thats handy for those who just use the drivers door specially for safety reasons with carjackings etc.

I've done something similar, except I disconnected the wiring from the sensor completely and I have the same result. Except you have to careful not to sit in the car with acc on listening to the radio or the headlights stay on and like me you will end up with a flat battery.
Note: This mod aint suitable for TS and Ghia's as the same sensor acts as the sun load sensor for the Climate Control, and this applies for both the dash mat idea and disconnecting the wiring.

Shouldnt affect the climate control, theres a little knob under the outside left hand mirror for that i believe. Or alteast thats what i thought??

This aint a personal attack but....
The sensor you are refering to is the outside air temp sensor.
From page 263 of my Owners Manual...
"The dual zone auto climate control includes a sun load sensor located centrally on the top surface of the instrument panel very close to the windscreen. This sensor measures the strength of direct sunshine on the interior of the vehicle."

Kool.
So i should probarly uncover it.

You wont do any damage. At the moment your climate control thinks your constantly driving around in complete darkness, and will try to achive the temp you select accordingly. You probably wont notice much difference now but as summer comes along you might notice your A/C not coming on as often as it should be and it might take longer to achive set temp. Ofcourse non of this applies if you use it in manual mode. I'll see if I can find more info on it and get back to you.

Cheers.
Im all out of cool tips for now, but if anyone happens to order Turbo wheels, make sure you order the opposite to what you want as it seems Fords catalogue has em back to front.
I got my Ghia wheels today (machine finished) which happen to be the standard Turbo ones when you open the box, which mean ill have to wait even long now till i get them.
Oh well :(

Thanks for the tip on the different remotes saving the automatic temperatures. Wife sets her temp to 24 when she drives, and I like 21. Tried it the other day, got my set of keys and the temp was 21, so thought I'd grab the wifes keys and presto 24. Love the feature.
Does this also work with the Ghia seat memory? I don't have seat memory on my TS, but just interested.
how do you get the digital speedo readout?

How do you do these???
the book tells you how to change the unlock function i think.
I have managed to get up the digital speedo somehow by accident when driving our car home for the first time (abeit loonnng drive from Adelaide to Narrandera- plenty of time to play!)
I was pushing buttons (tis a TX) and holding the button down on various screens and it came up. For the life of me i couldn't tell you which ones did it, but i do know that the actual speedo is 1-2km/h out...
Must have a play again one day and figure it out.
you didnt just reset the av speed did you ?
nope, it gave me the current speed, which changed with the cars speed. I initially thought the same thing, but i left it on for a while, and altered my speed, and it changed.
Still haven't had time for a play...

I think he was refering to the dual stage door unlocking feature. The instructions for how to enable/disable this feature can be found on page 213 of my manual. All it involves is closing all doors and holding down both the lock and unlock buttons for five seconds, after which the indicators will flash to indicate it has worked. Each keypad can be programmed independatly of the others meaning each keypad will do what its been programmed to do, handy for two drivers wanting diffrent settings. And I know it works cause I played around with this feature when I bought the car.

Found this out after reading your thread - If you go through the sequence of the trip meter reset button to average speed read out, hold button in until it beeps, this will reset to zero then give you the actual reading of your current speed. Match this with your speedo to get a reading, it will then only revert to a average speed reading until you press and hold button in again.
Gee I had fun doing this, great if it would have stayed on all the time.
Still think a clock readout in the display unit should be there.

Heh, and my Moron salesman told me that the Dash sensor was for the Central Locking. I knew otherwise, however it was good to drive away knowing that I knew more about the car than he did!

Its not really that hard these days, knowing more than the salesman. Thats what make forums like this such a great research tool.
a-ah i'm wasn't dreaming! thanks HOWARTH061 from keeping my sanity... I do the hold down button thing, or in older commodores, hold multiple buttons to get into all types of nifty (and some things i shouldn't play with..) features in different cars i own or drive. I wonder if holding down various buttons in the terri will do the same thing. . hmmm
Dont know if you guys know this but you can turn off the annoying seat belt warning sound, well you can on the sedan, but i assume the territory would be the same.

Not sure if many know this, but in my TS, if I hold down the SEEK button on the steering wheel, it will change to the next CD in the stacker.
May sound stupid (but a couple of locals in town didn't know this), but use the RES/COAST button on the steering wheels Cruise Control to disengage and reengage cruise control. You don't have to touch the brake for passing through towns. ...and you do see a lot of people who touch their brakes to disengage cruise. My wife was one of them.

Hey there Grahill,
Yes the remote does remember the electric seat setting as well as the climate control.
It's a great feature but you have to get use to it.
Example 1
Going out for the day so the wife unlocks to load the picnic gear, seat adjusts to her position so when I get in to drive I hit my knees etc. The fix of course is to get her to lock after loading and then I unlock. As I said just have to get used to it.
Example 2
Wife unlocks car to load gear, seat adjusts to her setting. We have to wait for a short while so I lock the car.. My remote now has her seat setting. Again the solution is whoever unlocks the car, locks the car.
Of course the memory setting on the seat itself can be used to reset in either case but it can be a pain at times.

Not sure I follow u and I'm prob missing something - are you not simply fully resetting the Trip computer thus the 'average speed' indicating your current speed which of course will be an average?? :eclipsee_

When you hold the trip reset button in until it beeps, this will reset to zero then give you your current speed, moving up and down whilst your travelling , it will then revert to your calculated average speed. It only happens for a short period of time thou.

Thought thats what you mean. So no, it's actually showing your average speed not true actual speed. Of course it's actual for the first few seconds or so while more and more samples are taken but quickly is only an average.
I'm interested in this "Police Mode" where your actual digital speed is displayed constantly. How we do this guys? :nosh:

I think this needs a flash done on your instrument cluster.
Speed shows up in the spot where the auto-trans gear shows.(I wish this would show current gear rather than just D in normal auto mode).
See this for info on BA dashs.
I assume T dashs work the same way.

Yep you need to go see your dealer about getting the police mode installed on your custer, i had it in my XR6 from new and it was handy, theo nly problem with the XR6 was coz it didnt have the Premium ICC with the trip fucntions (average fuel etc) i lost them all, all i had was DTE.
By the way it shows up on in the right screen, not the left (where the kms travelled are).

Re paint scratches on Territory tailgate window. I found 2 of the rubber doovers missing on my window, I put rubber strips about 25mm long by 4mm thick on the edges and the window now closes a bit tighter and gives a smidge more clearance, what I can't understand is the paint on the window is scratched on the outer edges but no paint scratches on the tailgate.
