Hi all,
I'm a soon to be owner of a TX 2WD, Silhouette, 7 seats, body colour pack, basic towpack, side curtain airbags, fog lamps, carry bars, mud spats, fridge and window tinting. Order was placed last week, but no delivery date as yet. This will be the first Ford that I have owned. Looking forward to the Territorys arrival - I feel like an expectant dad.

Congrats on the news, but you'll be on cloud nine when she arrives.
Just between you and me though, "if you're hitched, you might have to buy two if you want to drive". : )
Agreeing with "lv619" don't forget a piccy.

One of the parents at my childrens school has just ordered another Terri for himself. A two Territory house & only one child.
It seesms to be a common problem. My wife who loves her Subaru has developed a greater love for the Territory and is lobbying about trading in the 12 month old Subie on one. Even had the cheek to suggest I drive the Subie. Answer is no on both counts - hope the Terri doesn't get divided up in the property settlement!

:hihi:
Your only consolation is that the subie has good resale value so a trade-in shouldn't be too nasty

I've now gone from expectant Dad to Proud Owner. We picked up our Territory yesterday - and have spent most of the weekend driving. We had a bit of a longer wait as when the Territory first arrived at the dealer 5 weeks ago, it had all the options we'd ordered...except it was Lightning Strike and not Sillhouette. Oh well, errors happen, I really wanted the Sillhouette so we had to wait for another one to be manufactured (seems a TX with side airbags and 3rd row seats is an unusual combination, so the dealer was unable to source one from anywhere else). Dealer bent over backwards to help, and provided a loan car for the duration. It's here now and me and Mrs FirstFord coudn't be happier.
Spoiled ourselves this weekend with a bit of rural road driving, and a cross town trip late at night. Back to reality tomorrow and Melbourne's wonderful freeway network at peak hour.

:toocool: That is great, you've had your glitch from now on it's easy sailing.
How they can get the colour mixed up would be an interesting story, keep us informed on how your territory drives & what you think of it.
My Wife is a strange person some times. When I told her I was buying one, she swore never to drive the car, because "it was a Territory, and they are ugly, especially from the back". When I was away last week, her car didn't leave the driveway at all. My car had nearly 1,000 Kms put on it when I was away, and then she goes and crashes it. What does that say about women and Territories, or should I say women and 4WDs?
Anyway, congratulations on receiving something that resembles your car. The only way Ford can mistake the colour is if they put the colour into the ordering system wrong, and not detect it. But a word of warning, Silhouette is VERY hard to keep clean. I was struggling to get away with one wash per week, yet the Lightning Strike models can avoid washes indefinitely before looking dirty. The stuffup may have been a blessing in disguise in our times of water restrictions. Good Luck with the car, I hope you didn't get a Friday Afternoon build like me, and welcome to the fold.

I know what you mean.
Now that you've started you have to fill in all the dirty bits; what did she hit & how much damage, have you forgiven her yet or are you playing hard to get

When the dealer told me that the wrong colour had arrived, I naturally asked how it happened - I gave the dealer an out by asking if it was a mix up at the factory. The owned up and said it was their fault - honesty such as this instantly won me over. The colour on the order was wrong. From what the saleman said, they were ordering two Terri's and transferring one Terri to another dealership. In the process the colours of the vehicle being transferred and the order for my vehicle mixed up. An honest mistake. I think we've cemented a great relationship with the dealer. When my wife went to pick up the loan vehicle, she took in a small tin of black paint and a paint brush and left it on the salesmans desk. Everyone at the dealership appreciated the humour.
I have black coloured (in a variety of fancy names, but black is black) vehicles over the last 10 or so years. Always hard to keep clean, but I love black. We moved into a new housing estate four years ago, and for the first 18 months we were there, the place was one continious construction site. The ground is all clay, so the streets were just covered, particularly in winter. My black car ended up being brown for weeks on end.
It might be just me, but I find the names of colours of cars odd. To me, Lightning Strike should be black - having had a house that was hit by lightning, thats what you end up with - black marks, not silver. I wonder how long it takes for manufacturers to come up with the names they use. Imagine the focus groups.
Paxtonandrew - hope everything is alright.

A dealer that is that honest up front is gold. Any chance of naming them so we can have a reference point next time?
and yes I agree with you, lightning strike (the colour I chose) conjures up either black, as the burn marks, or white as in the white flash, so silver is an interesting one.
Mine is the first Ford I have ever owned (apart from an old TC cortina that I put a worked 351 into, but that was so heavily modified I don't count it as a ford). In all the teritory is truly great car and an interesting phenomenon is that they tend to breed in the car park, there are now a total of 6 where I park ;-)
I know what you mean.

I was in Cairns on a 2 week conference at the Sheraton. It was the third day when I got the phone call that my car had been the meat in the sandwich of a 3 Car pileup on King Georges Road in Sydney. A FOB Taxi Driver sitting in Front of my wife decided to stop without notice and pick up a fare from the middle lane, my Territory did not stand a chance. The Taxi Driver claimed my Wife was in the wrong. The Commodore behind made the accident a 3 car job, with the Territory requiring a new Front Guard, Bonnet Stretch, Gril, Radiator, Rear requiring a new Tailgate and bumper-bar. I am driving an XT, but that should only be for the next week. The Damage bill was a healthy $6,500, but the Taxi Driver is also funding (Without Knowledge) Side Steps and Roof Bars.
I have forgiven the Wife, because it was not her fault, and I will never step foot into a Legion Cab again.

Did you get alloys on it.. With that list of options i hope you did, a TX with side bags/ colour coding and no alloys is a worry lol!
I want a Black GHIA myself eventually now I think about it, i was going to buy an XR8 next time but I think ill go the Territory.

Hi FirstFord,
Congrats on your new Territory. Black TX's with body colour bumpers are far more black overall than Ghias. You also have the dark headlight surrounds and the dark front and rear skidplates. PS how come you didnt go alloys?

After seeing a few at the dealer with alloys on them, I'm asking my self that question now. At the time I think I was looking at the other bells and whistles.

Oh so true.
I bought mine ... and I might get to drive it 2-4 times a month ... seriously.
The other half has it all of the time.
I drive my ute all the time (hey LPG is damn cheap ... LOL)
If my TS didn't already have alloys I'd be having a close look at these wheels from Koya. They are in the XR Falcon style in 17x8" but with polished alloy highlights and supposed to be load rated for Territories as well. An extra 1/2" of width over the factory Terri alloys couldn't hurt either.

They could make a nice looking combination on your car FirstFord.

Maybe just as wel I didn't get alloys factiry fitted - gonna have to consider these. Mrs FirstFord might be a problem though. She has my 2001 Magna now, and was bemoaning the fact that she never gets the new car. So I had the Magna detailed, put some new seat covers in, got her some personalised plates, numberplate covers...and a set of $35.00 wheel covers from Autobarn. That last ones gonna come back and bite me when I show her the picture of the Koyas.
Then again, she was driving around in a '92 Hyundai POS, sorry, Lantra.

That looks nice, can anyone do a photochop on a pimp Ghia, and maybe a red or blue TX as well? (just for a good spread)

For a 2 ton vehicle ... fuel consumption is average (depends how heavy your right foot is) ... that's about the only "bad" thing I can say.
Hence why it won Wheels Car Of The Year.

Once would have agreed with you, but my Terry has dropped its fuel consumption dramatically - have moved further from the city and I am getting a lot more highway use, but I have dropped from 14.5 to 16 on some tanks, down to 13 - 14 l/100km. Very happy with that when you consider weight and the way I drive...

Territory is hardly any worse then a BA Falcon depending on how you drive it....
All the new BAs we have had 3 and a Territory have been heavy on fuel, but thats the price you pay to have plenty of power and a mechanically strong engine.. my XR6 goes like a train day in and day out.. couldn't ask for anymore from a car so well priced.

We've had our RWD Territory Ghia for just over 12 months now. Average fuel consumption has been around 13.5 litres per 100 kms. The missus says it's the best car she has driven - no complaints from me either. We haven't had a problem with it...you won't be disappointed!
