What are you guys paying for insurance in Sydney, for a rating 1,Territory Ghia etc or similar spec to 55K.
My quotes have varied from $700(NRMA)-$1400(CGU)??

$700 is good value but I have issues with NRMA and there ability to increase premiums in the 2nd year and the repairer of choice option(there isn't one)

Mien is a bit higher as I have only 55% NCB ... or whatever it is.
I am with NRMA ... and it's around the $1000 mark ... TX AWD ... insured for $50K with extras.

Would you believe it ... the XG Falcon S ute I just bought it more per year ... and it's insured for $8K ... and it's a 94 model .... go figure.

Ouzo ... that's about the same we are getting in Sydney as well ... I looked are Premium the other day ... $1.30/L ... forget that.

$800 with GIO in Sydney (full no claim bonus). Unlike Hobart, AAMI quoted about 50% higher than GIO (about 3 times Hobart rate!).

Bringing the Terri down to Hobart on the ferry in June Ouzo. Might bump into you there - though I suppose like everywhere else Terris are like flies there too and you won't stand out in the crowd.

I Got GIO at 1200 for a ghia AWD which includes off road cover and free windscreen replacement. NRMA was a cheaper quote, But as another poster I also have issues with NRMA.
It's wierd how the insurance companies calculate the premeiums, A while back I got $200 off, same car same driver same company simply by moving. And the place I moved to was walking distance, realy only a postcode change.
Also the insurance on the Terri for $53k is $8.00 per year cheaper than the insurance for the commodore I traded in which was insured for $18k.
go figure.

Insurance works in strange ways. We live in a community that rarely hears of any thefts, breakins of anything like you'd expect in a built up area. One year our car insurance jumped from $220 to $400. I queried the large increase, and they said that there had been more claims in that postcode than with the previous year. And sure enough two footy club break-in's and two car acidents, WOW that really warranted that large increase. RACV was still the cheapest even with the increase. A leg of lamb was stolen from a freezer once, lol. This certainly went around the community very fast, and doors were locked from then on.

A positive thing I did find however, was when moving from SA to VIC that coming from a government insurance company (SGIC) enabled me to go straight to a rating one with RACV.

I have ever only made one claim, when a kangaroo jumped from the side one night when my wife was coming home after nursing. I had troubles claiming extras that weren't apparently included on the policy, despite us going into a RACV shop and ensuring it was included in the policy over the counter. Our fault for assuming that it was included on the computer database, as it wasn't printed on the policy. Accessories such as spotlights, nudgebar, transmission cooler were all installed to the EBII. After not getting any of this back through the claim, I later ensured everything was included, down to dash mat, firstaid kit in the boot, and floor mats. They said that this was a little obsessive, but they did do it. One thing I learnt from this, was to always make alterations over the phone, as these are recorded, and a new policy is sent to you for confirmation. Over the counter, you are relying on the person understanding your instant requests and typing them directly in. Obviously they miss things, or choose not to include them, despite your requests. Write down the date, time, name of the person and ask for the team name. All of this information was courtesy of the RACV complaints line. I couldn't complain about the repair service or speed however, as the car itself was fixed within three days. "Shhhh don't tell anyone though, but seeing as though the independant assessor didn't allow for the spotlights, nudgebar etc, the panel repair shop ensured that all parts (that were used) were Ford genuine and brand new." Usually a cheaper panel is used, and he charged the insurance company accordingly. Thanks mate.

I hope knowone has to ever claim, but in today's mad world it will be inevitable. Safe driving, and read your policies thoroughly.

PS, the leg of lamb was really yummy

The best thing to do really is to trawl the insurance websites and use their online calculators. It actually pays to do this a couple of times per site, spread out over the course of a week, since the amounts can change (and by quite a bit at times!).

I know when I was researching insurance prices for my XR8, I got variations of up to $350 from the SAME COMPANY for EXACTLY THE SAME DETAILS!!! So of course, I kept records of each visit and quote number, and took the cheapest one!

I recently did the for my XG ute ... I did an online quote with NRMA with everything included ... I then rang up to get the estimate put down on paper and get my insurance .... the woman told me they aren't linked to the details on the website ... and then my insurance ended up being $250 more a year ... with the exact same details used ... and this time over the phone she added that I had a linked policy with the Territory as well ... and it still ended up being more ... go figure ??????

I paid about $720 with windscreen cover with NRMA for Sydney suburbs for an SR RWD. Every other quote I got was $1000 plus.

P.S. I know this is an old thread but I want to know what other people are paying after year since this thread was started. And, Iv'e decided to make this my new hobby, find old threads and bump em back to the top just to annoy people, and if the mods have anything to say about it i'll start another thread on foglights. :naughty:

I started reading from the top and then saw how old this thread was!
You've done a Lazarus.....

Anyway, to make you jealous. My insurance is thru Swann and it cost me $0. The current Ford promo that runs out at the end of the month. But I did get a quote before purchasing the T and it was always around the $1000 mark Sydney, rating 1 over 35.

cheers

I think I'm paying about $860, Two drivers, 60% NCB with AAMI and choice of repairer for an SX Ghia AWD. They were ~$150 cheaper than the NRMA, which included a discount for house and contents.

It is cheaper to insure than my XR6 was (it was ~$1,000/year with the same conditions).
