Out of the lastest wheels mag (stolen from another ford website)

"These photos were taken in an FPV convoy in remote South Australia. And because FPV do the turbo XR6 engine, this must be a turbo Territory.
Although there was no AWD badge, so WHEELS think it may be RWD only.

Added:

The article goes on to say that the right height is lower and it features 17-inch wheels.

On traction, the XR6T Falcon doesn’t have that many probs, especially with traction control on and no doubt Electronic Stability Control will be on the RWD Falcons in the not to distant future. The article does say that it’ll most likely be RWD because it’s lighter and cheaper. Remember the real reason for SUVs, their body, not AWD capability. : )

They go on to say that Ford are about to start a large customer feedback program and at the end of that, which may be several months, they’ll give possibly the Turbo, diesel or high-ride Tezzas the go ahead.

It’ll also have a high mounted intercooler. They suggested this could be because of either the steering system or because it may spend more time on dirt, therefore it should be up higher. As if it’ll spent any time on dirt, except for the media? Especially if it’s RWD.

They also predicted that it would be around 220kWs with a smaller turbo charger."

mmm interesting. A Turbo Territory would have to be a gimme..

i'm thinking that all that padding on the bonnet could be covering a bulge??

clearing pics would be good that way we could see if there is an opening in the padding for airflow into vents or something to aid cooling.

Probably covering the scoop for the intercooler I'd say. Looks like theres a bit of a scoop in the 2nd pic.

Looks like there is a bulge and air vent on the bonnet. Looks great and just what the XR6T and F6 needs IMO (visually only).

It could just as easily be a TDI with a top-mount intercooler?

Wheels are just speculating....

I'd say it is the Turbo Terri. It has been in the making for a while so no doubt it will be out soon.

On a side note, an AWD would be good because APS etc would love to then get their hands on it.

I heard about this a while ago, apparently they didn't have enough space to fit the intercooler behind the front bar so decided to stick it up on top of the engine. I wonder if it will have XR headlights and a restyled front bar when it arrives, and wether we might see a concept version at the Melbourne Motor Show. I'd love to see one with a full APS kit run 10's.
It needs big wheels, 18's should be standard with the option of 19's or 20's, but I guess the availability of tyres will be the deciding factor as not many companies make tyres that would suit.

lol.... May not be as far fetched as it sounds... Peter and lads at APS are mad enough to do that!

Well CAPA have had advancements with the Territory as well ... I think they put 22" or 23" on their V8 Supercharged version (I know everything underbonnet was changed to an XR8 engine .. incl suspension and steering, etc).

In the pics it looks like it's a top-mount cooler being used (especially if used for off-road purposes ... ie: water-crossings if necessary) as most turbo 4WDs have top-mount coolers. And a smaller turbo would be more practical for off-road use as well ... earlier spooling for low-rev work.

Once it is released ... I'd put money on that APS will have pre-ordered one and start work on it straight away ... hee hee.

Yep, more a case of 'when' than 'if' for Turbo Terri.

Going to be interesting to see how it sells though, it doesnt come across as the sort of car you'd take to a dragstrip.

Oh how sweet it would be to own an SS in one though lol.

The turbo Territory will use the same turbo as XR6T. It spools early enough so why go smaller, especially with an auto.

I hope it is a Turbo Diesel and I hope they can lift the tow rating so it can match other larger 4wd's.
