Holden are trying harder to take some sales away from the Territory,

The all-wheel-drive battle just got tougher, but Ford still has a grip on Holden, writes CAMERON McGAVIN.
Holden got the first Australian all-wheel-drive wagon onto the market with its Adventra, but it's clear now that Ford's Territory has been the biggest success.

Worldwide trends for SUV show buyers are going for the tall-boy look, rather than the carlike wagon look. Check out poor sales figures for Adventra and Audi Allroad. Allroad has better space capacity than X5, but buyers want the prestige of tall size it seems, whether they need it or not.
I don't see the V6 Adventra significantly changing the current status quo, not without huge incentives anyway. Plus it drives like a dog compared to Territory.

I've been told by a Holden new car sales agent that the V6 Adventra is currently out selling production numbers.
He reckons people are being sold on it being a local product & great fuel economy figures that the V6 & 5 speed auto are producing, a lot of Holden fans were also holding off when there was only a V8 version.
But it's still no competition to the Territory sales figures, and I doubt it ever will be.
Holden have an Isuzu based SUV being prepared that will give the Terri a run for its money.
EDIT: the reason he was excited about sales being higher than production, is because prior to this they were piling up & huge incentives were required to move them.

But how much are they producing?

Not many, about 250 a month I think. I'll ask him.
City fuel cons of 20L/100km?!!!!! CRIKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a high-tech V6 that's shameful to say the least!!!! Where is the advantage?!?!?!?!!!!!!

Crikey, a crocs got my baby, that is incredibly fuel inefficient! I would expect those sort of fuel consumption figures out of the Supercharged V10 GTHO... Ooops, I've said too much :jester:

Where did you get that figure from? Isn't that the consumption figures for the V8?
From what I have read the new motor & gearbox set up is quite respectable for a two ton barge, nothing spectacular, but still respectable.

Most importantly it tames the Adventra's epic thirst. Holden quotes a figure of 13.1 litres per 100km for the Adventra V6 – coincidentally the same number Ford claims for its rear-drive Territory. In mixed use the test Adventra averaged 13.2l/100km measured fill-to-fill. In highway driving, according to its trip computer, it dipped to just over 11l/100km

If you drove it like a motoring journo you would probably get 20L/100km! They'd probably get that from a Toyota Corolla
I have driven a V8 adventra (company car) and honeslty believe they are nowhere near as bad as some people make them out to be.
I too have heard that there is currently a supply problem with the Adventra (apparently due to some awd components) and demand is by far outstripping supply.

Not so sure that supply is really the problem - they planned 2500 units per year last year and JUST got that, but needed price reductions and other incentives to get the things on the road, this year with the V6 they are hoping for many more sales.
