Hi everyone,
I'm new here. Had a quick look around the forums at some of the issues being experienced by other owners and thought I would share my laundry list.

- Fuel pump needs replacing (stange noise at rear of vehicle - externally)

- Wind noise from rear passenger side door.

- Squeaking evident internally. Noise comes from driver side rear wheel well. (Had my father inlaw who is an ex ford engineer in the rear area trying to track it down yesterday. Very funny. Noise is intermittent but usually after car is warm - i.e didn't appear until we got to Geelong from Melbourne then evident the whole way to Ocean Grove. Every picked up by 70 year old Grandmother in the front seat with radio on (and not told previosuly about it). So I am not being pedantic about this one and have had it in twice for checking out. As it is intermittent it is difficult to replicate for the servicing centre. First time they tightened the suspension, second time they adjusted the tailgate.

- Passenger side window stuck down. I kid you not, times like these you wish you had a manual solution. We had to drive with both windows down from 12 Apostles to a mates place at Port Campbell, where i jimmied it up using a screw driver and cloth so as not to damage the tint. Turns out a clip that holds the window in the tracks busted. Thankfully it wasn't raining. I will be adding a screwdriver to my car kit.

- Fuse cover above drivers right foot is busted and keeps falling off.

- Step inserts are bubbling

- I get the seat movement issue when acclerating or breaking quickly. It is not very major though, just off putting.

- Auxillary audio plug is now only playing through the left hand speakers.

I'll keep you updated on the fixes and if they are TSBs etc... :boxing_sm

BTW there is 11,200km on the ODO and I use predominately OPTIMAX. Fuel economy is about 15.5L on average since we got it. This is predominately un-gentle city driving. I now get about 11.2 on the open road e.g. down to Geelong.

Cheers
Kane

Welcome aboard KaneWash

Some of the issues you mention have been a problem for a couple of the guys here, hope you get them all fixed soon.

Your fuel economy sounds similar to mine, I did get an improvement of about .4L after switching to a full synthetic PAO 5W-30 engine oil

Are most of the problems we read about on these forums associated with Ghias and/or AWD (due to their greater complexity)? How many TX (or TS) / RWD owners have had no significant problems like me? Or are any issues across the board?

Hi KaneWash and welcome aboard.

My advice to you is to do your homework on here so you know what you're looking for, what has happened previously to other owners etc etc, then get your info, and book it in the to the service department of your dealer.

Give them a list of the problems and tell them to have it sorted by the end of the day.

New2Ford, i doubt the issues are just prone to Ghia models...

Ours is great the only issue with it is the seat, otherwise its perfect with 4000 kms.

I drove a TX for 4 days which was also prettygood, but had some weird noises in it, it had about 3000 kms and was AWD. I guess like any Ford its just the luck of the draw.

Ms RATT has a TX AWD and so far so good after 18000km.

Sorry, my Terri is a 2WD TX... I wouldn't say its extremely problematic, but it has more problems than most - thankfully most of them resolved now (finally)
