Having not owned a stock Auto car before and driving 6 speed manuals mostly, I find the Terri's auto changes are "flaring" in mid light to mid throttle applications in 4th gear.
Cruising at say 80km/h apply half throttle, so no gear change, then convertor lock-up changes RPM by 300(approx increase) then drops back then stays up by the original 300? I have not floored it to upchange as its still new and this doesn't happen when manually changing. Is it a software problem? or is it a characteristic of the 4 speed auto in economy mode?
Cheers.

It is hard to assess by the info you have given.

These auto's do use an Adaptive Auto Mode, which learns your driving habitsd & changes to suit that http://www.ford.com.au/territory/files/1/Automatic%20Choice%20To%20Find%20New%20Territory.pdf

Maybe test drive another Territory, or take someone that knows auto's for a drive with you.

Mine does the same so if its a fault, you're not on your own.

Ouzo,
Is it a full box replacement job or do they try and fix it?
Cheers,
Andrew

I've assumed its normal but maybe yours is doing it more than mine. Interesting.
