Nothing illegal about you obtaining evidence that you may later use in your defence, well not in this case anyway, it is a public road and your Qld law states that they (radar cops) must make mtorists aware of cameras in the area. All you are doing is showing that correct procedure was not followed and you will actually in effect be helping all motorists booked on that day by affording them a reasonable argument also.

This is the reason they changed the laws here in Vic, I still remember one in particular where they had a mobile camera set up in what was actually signed as a delivery van. They thought that they wouldn't need to because most people don't take note of delivery vans and by the time they got them might forget. I think that someone actually spotted the camera and the story was in the local paper in the following weeks telling motorists that they had a legitimate argument to have the fine and the charge dropped, which of course they all were.
