Until not too long ago, the entire "Royal Family" was riddled with it! Herein lies another much more sinister meaning of "Blue Blood".
Wasn't Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII, actually his illegitimate daughter?
Prince Charles of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall are 9th cousins, Queen Elizabeth II is second cousin once removed from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and Queen Victoria married her first cousin, Prince Albert
The incestuous Royal "Blue Blood" was also seen as the key to long life, or the fountain of youth.
Still don't make it bloody right though!

I was going to post that myself, only I thought it might be mistaken for defending the couple in the story. You are quite correct though, inbreeding has been common among the Royals for centuries, one of the problems with not being allowed to marry commoners. After a few generations they all ended up being cousins of some sort, which meant carrying on the Royal lineage meant no option but inbreeding. Charles' ears didn't get like that by accident, you know.
