The XD station wagon we use to go the summernats fully loaded has still got its 3 speed auto from the factory (1979) & has never had the iron head off & its nearing the 300,000kms mark. Only general service, tyres & radiator plus some rust.

They wanted 3,000 for a reco.
It developed a problem in Melbourne and got me home. Started to slip after a while when it got warmed up. Transmission place gave me 300 k's before the box would be stuffed. I got about 60. Unfortuantley, it was during the trip to trade it in that it packed it in. DOH
Anyway, the car had 180,000 k's on the clock.
The report from the tranny place was 'All fluid levels are normal, but transmission fluid has metal shavings and fluid colour is a dark grey"
