Default Re: "Workhorse" or "Show Pony"?

2011G6E,

My take on your situation and people who think it should be to show car standard is this:

- Utes, like the WB (and equivalents Fords and Valiants etc) are getting less common by the year, and I think for a lot of people they bring back good memories.
- These same people want that type of vehicle to stay around for much longer.
- Further, people can't understand that if you want to spend the time, effort and money to make a good ute, and then use it for what they see as activities that may damage/degrade the ute why do it in the first place. they would rather see it stay as is or be turned into a show stopper. They just don't get the concept.

I have a similar problem when people see me driving my Mustang like I do any other car. I will drive it in rain, on dirt roads (not offroad), I will park it in the street (assuming its a great part of town). The way I look at it, I want to enjoy the car and if it got smashed or stolen I would be very sad, but it would just change the direction of the ownership journey.

Cheers,

Andrew
