Default Re: Paul Gover Likes the new Focus!!!!!!!

How typical of Paul Gover to praise absolute crap. He somehow greatly prefers the Commodore to the Falcon, and now he sings the praises of the Corolla? I wonder if he's actually driven the cars he writes about.

All I see in the Corolla is dated design, safety that lags behind the pack, a notchy six-speed manual and antiquated auto. The car exhibits an engine that's harsh when revved yet makes all its torque up at the 'bad end' of the rev range. The steering is overly light (no resistance at all), with an on-centre dead spot (reminds Gover of his beloved Commodore?) and no feel whatsoever. When turning the wheel, you feel like it has no relationship with the direction of the front wheels. How did Toyota manage that? I'm not going to even mention the marshmallow-soft chassis which exhibits a great disposition to understeer when pushed. The car isn't even refined, and it doesn't even ride nicely. Yes, the Focus is definitely past its prime, but it's nowhere near Corolla standards just yet.

What on earth am I missing in the Corolla and Commodore, Paul?
