It does look similar, but it was created to showcase a cab forward design proposal that was to use a transverse engine and T drive transmission (whatever that is). But Ford never went ahead with it. Nothing I can find indicates it was a derivative of Probe, but it clearly uses some of it's styling cues.
Interestingly enough the car still exists and was recently purchased by Moray Callum, who was one of the original designers.
