With the 18's the only time I had wear problem is that the missus let the pressure get too low and they wore unevenly. I was told it is a common problem for cars with 18s especially european cars. Don't know if that is crap or not but I check the pressure as soon as I get home from work (I work away) and so far, so good and there is plenty of gutter rash on the wheels.
