Mechatronic has been the general term since the days of traditional auto gearboxes.
TCM is the Ford term and obviously it's constituent components are a bit different in a dual-clutch gearbox.
You should be pretty happy to have a new one, they are not a common part and AFAIK $2500 is a good price, let alone free!
