The problem with something like a hardtop, is that the shell is only half the battle.
With something like a Mustang, there are enough reproduction parts available to build a complete car, especially in the US.

And cost wise, If you could afford to drop $30k on only the bare shell, then you can afford to go out and buy an existing car.
