The Subaru carbon cleaner wasn't designed to solve this problem on DI engines as Subaru have never had a DI engine until the BRZ was released a month or 2 ago.

But it does the same job on a non DI engine as it would on a DI version. Ford have there own version from Motorcraft called Carbon Clean.
