Maaate, I reckon you nailed it..

I've had the same issue for some time now, always after rain I'd back out the drive way and/or go around the first left hand corner and get a wet right foot.

I did exactly as you suggested, found one of the spot welds was cracked and looking a little rusty so I cleaned it up and pushed silicon into it and all around.

Tested it by giving the car a good drenching with the hose and took her out the driveway and round a few bends, no leaks.
