This effects the original Xbox - the capacitor which looks after the system timer leaks and irreparably damages the PCB and it's bin time.
I reckon is another 10 years the original Xbox in working condition is going to be worth $$$$
But yes I'm putting in another vote for SSD, my laptop is also 7 years old with an SSD and it still works great for my uses.
