Just for the record. Yep, 5 years is the limit for tyres and yep tyres sitting can end up with flat spots and cause vibration issues.
I'd rather be safe than sorry and replace them even if the tread is quite good.

That being said, my cars seem to get used often enough that they wear down before five years is up anyway. Although the LTD may sit for a while yet...
