Default Re: GST on imported car parts.

And in addition to the cost of the parts from the UK, there will be 5% duty, and if shipped by an Importer (DHL etc), an $80 Customs charge, and $22 disbursements.

I ship once or twice a month from the UK, and shipment times vary from 10 to 30 days. As there are hardly any direct flights from the UK to Oz at the moment, be prepared for your shipment to spend some time in Dubai, or Dohar and then off to Narita in Japan for a couple of days. That’s a common route for DHL at the moment, along with a couple of days in Leipzig in Germany.

Also, there is no rhyme or reason regarding the payment of GST and duty. Sometimes its charged, and sometimes not - and does not seem dependant on the value of the goods - not withstanding that in every case, a commercial invoice is attached to the goods, and supplied to the shipper.
