Category selection is done by VFACTs although I've no doubt they take input from the manufacturers. Interestingly, as I'm now looking at the Large SUV category, there are some I've found already that should be in the Medium segment based on footprint like the Captiva, Pajero Sport, Skoda Kodiaq and Subaru Outback, the latter by a small margin.
