Default Re: XD ute tags

I registered a One tonner years ago with no compliance plates, all I had to do is fill out a form to register without compliance and have it witnessed, the rego papers still had the VIN and engine number listed like any other car, they determined the year from the VIN, the make and model was obvious at registration, so the compliance plates are irrelevant really apart from listing options and paint codes they offer little to the registration process apart from matching to the car.

I doubt if you will need a engineer as the VIN gives them the only info they need to register the car, they identify the car from its VIN and engine number the tags are only to show build information that the registering authority does not record.

As with the new cars we repair and have to remove the VIN sticker at repair, its illegal to have them made, and you cant order a replacement from the manufacturer, so the car goes without VIN sticker, as long as we are not interfering with the VIN, its all legal to do, If we have to replace a chassis or component that has the VIN stamped on it, there is a process we have to go through with the insurer and a company that re- stamps the vin to the new section or chassis, all is recorded with the department of transport
