To be blunt and honest, the new Mondeo would have to be a HUGE improvement over the last model sold here. I owned one of the HE ST24 V6 models from new and our Mazda 6 is miles ahead in every area (particularly handling / steering feedback.)
Having said that, I do believe the new Mondeos would be competitive (from what I've read?); the price is the only thing I can see being an issue.
