I personally wouldnt wash it first up. Dont run the risk of pushing any wet leaves into the nooks and crannies of the body, especially into any small rust holes...

Throw on some thick rubber gloves for the spiders, start picking out all the leaves, foliage etc by hand when it is still dry.. Get most of it out by hand then with compressed air or a vacuum cleaner suck up the last of it. Once you have the bulk of the rubbish out of the way then introduce it to Mr. CarWash and Water
