Why not use the bountiful reserves of fuel energy we have been gifted in the great big land? There is literally no need to import fossil fuel, we have an abundance of fuel stock the envy of most of the planet.
I can not think of any other country that is so incompetent that it doesn't use its resources like Australia - total failure of leadership for many many many years!
