As an Internal combustion Engine, with automotive application I would put the Daimler double 6, the VW W8, a w-ankel or two, any straight 6, a bunch of v12 and even the Volvo I5 ahead of all v6 engines except maybe the Magnas V6 which might come at the bottom of the list somewhere (the one that made Merc want to buy in)
(OK, so an engine style is edited out Surely I should be able to say "w a n k e l". It becomes "****el" - So sorry for you Felix)
