If you ride often enough between July and November you're bound to get a few swoops along the way. I have 4 on my regular commute. One is quite aggressive. I'm not bothered by the ones that don't make contact but this one is not afraid to draw blood. Swoops multiple times over the space of 100m or so and is slightly uphill so just have to wear it.
Recently I've taken to riding a slightly longer route to avoid them.
