You sure you have a 170. I think it was the 188 and 200's went to the bigger bellhousing. I did see many years ago a plate to adapt but they are prob near impossible to find now.
Failing that you could get a 200 or 250 from a later car to fit your auto. I hope i got this right way round and your auto is the big pattern and the new motor is too small
