Thanks......If you want to go V8 route, find an incomplete 4cyl vehicle and go from there. There will be less to throw out as well.

Some of us here get a bit touchy when complete and original examples are 'enhanced' for the V8 / Turbo / SR20 path.

But it's your car, you can do what you want.

Mine - V6 GT, original except for polybush susp, thermo fan, CD player under dash and grafted-into-grille driving lights. Less maintenenace and insurance hassles that way !!
Thanks for your thoughts, always good to get another's views onto ideas. I tend to agree, at first I thought it was a bit of a roughy, but finding out this information has changed my mind a fair bit.
I'll definitely rebuild engine and gearbox, might even turbo the 1600...
We will see what the mrs thinks haha
