My '69 1600GT did not have the bonnet bulge - just the flat bonnet. I sold that Capri in late 1983.
The bulge first appeared on the 1970 3000GT, and then from maybe '72 onwards it was on all cars (only one bonnet type needed in stock from then on). Even the 1970 1600XL (was '69 GT spec) had a flat bonnet.
Others more knowledgable about the production sequence can provide a better cutover date for the bulge.
