Default Best Sounding 4 Cylinder

I love the sound of a Cosworth BDA. I may try and upload some footage during the week.

The flat four in the WRX sounds alright with the right exhaust. I've only owned two four cylinders. I bought a 4 cylinder LC torana to learn how to do paint and panel, and then a Merc 190. The torana was a ****box but I put an exhaust on the Merc and it sounded ok for a four, but I won't be rushing out to buy another.

Best sound four cylinder would be one that has four cylinders on the left bank & four cylinders on the right but I have hear some ok lancers & mariages with big dollars spent on exhaust intake & other stuff that can sound quite sporty.

If you ever heard one of the Cosworths at 9500rpm you'd wet yourself... however I love the sound that early/mid eighties Suzuki/Kawasaki oil cooled 750/1100's make with a good pipe..... a really brutal raw sound. My old Alfa sounded pretty being revved hard too.

Zuki 750 4cyl.

PS: No boxer engine sounds good. Infact they sound worse than a bridge port rotary

Amazing how 4 cylinder bikes sound so different from buzzing 4 cylinder cars. A 4 cylinder only sounds good when it's doing at least 10,000rpm. And only if it has two wheels.

How could anything with pistons possibly sound worse than a rotor, Its a given that boxers sound like absolute s**t but a rotor, id rather stab myself in the ear with a burning cutip.

I'd have to say a 4kc toyota engine in a manual carolla running no exhaust. Sounds surprisingly good, not v8 good, but still good.

Cheers

have to disagree. Only the boxer turbo on a wrx four has a deep enough sounding exhaust to sound decent. And I'm quite partial to rotaries, a BP sounds weird enough to be cool, and a 20b is just deep and smooth, with 212kw factory to back it up
