Default Aftermarket Stereo

I'm thinking of replacing the factory stereo in the WQ Zetec, getting a nice Alpine or Eclipse head set.

Is there a replacement dash panel available for the WQ otherwise when I get the stereo out there's going to be a very big hole!!

I thought I saw one somewhere, it had a slot for the head set and underneath was a tray to put odds and ends in.........but I think that was for a WP?

As far s i know there is no Direct Replacement for the WQ. As the WQ has a Wider set cd player than the WP one. i understand the WP one does not fit either.... sorry mate....

Try some of your local Audio Shops as they may be able to do something with the WP one....??

There is a version for the WQ. It's fitted with the optional sat-nav in the UK. There used to be a picture but I can't find it now.

Give FordParts uk an email and they will be able to help you out. They sold me my WP converter kit and if there is a WQ one they will stock it.

While the WP came with a standard double din unit the WQ has double-din + abit so a special kit will be needed.

hiya mate, went down today and had a powwow with the stereo shop, no one makes an aftermarket panel to fit, but he told me of a great option, he can install some kind of module(in short its like the guts of an aftermarket high end stereo) along w an amp, change out the speakers, add a sub and mate i swear it sounds damn good!!! look into it

just measure up the standard cd player pretty sure its round 28 x 19 or something and tell jbhifi to get in contact with stinger.

Great idea... I saw a universal 'gap filler' at Repco the other day and it seemed that it might fit the WP, though not the WQ thanks to its odd design.

Anyone installed a double DIN unit, or in-dash DVD with screen into a WP?

Hi Guys,

I am also looking at doing a after market stereo,

Those of you who have done it, did you just use the one on ebay and cut the dash to fit?

I was in speaking to a mate who works at autobarn today, and he figured that we had to cut it because i have a wp with the 3 individual parts in the one big piece of dash. like this one
http://www.carsales.com.au/Tig/UI/CS...ortalID=240481

The other question was, is it a drama with the wiring if you replace the head unit? I know with the BA falcons they've made it impossible.

its no drama to replace the HU...

you need to order a SAT nav Facia from ford parts uk instead of cutting the dach...

I just had my headunit out today for my stereo install (i've kept it for now though).
It's wired up like most other cars and would be very easy to install an aftermarket one.

Ive had it cut once and now I have the sat nav surround and with the genuine surround it looks much nicer but is a ***** to get on.

what about options for head units to install. I dont really want to have a HU there with a bunch of plain black stuff that just looks like something used to be there. Is there a screen or something that would take up that whole space like a sat nav thats not gonna cose me the earth?
