Default Runaway Ford

Hi Guys,

I know this sounds strange but:

1. Should a car ever start in gear and accelerate?
2. Should it start in nutural and accelerate?

What could cause these problems? BIG LESSON LEARNT, NEVER START A CAR WITHOUT BEING INSIDE IT!!! I won't be doing that anytime soon.

But even so, considering human error, should a car ever start in gear and then run away. Wheels spun, engine reved and my foot wasn't anywhere near the accelerator. Even had the handbrake on. The only thing that stopped it doing anymore damage or injuring anyone else was because it hit a post and then the engine decided to stall.

I've completly lost confidence in the Ford. I wanted to check something in the engine for another matter, hence why I wasn't sitting in the car.

Regards, L42B
