XR6T snorkel is the Tickford snorkel minus the wings. Same part number, just with a BA prefix instead of TVE/AU prefix.

They should be a direct swap over - if it doesn't fit properly, then trim around the screw area so it does.

The gain they give is negligible, but more fresh air can't hurt, can it.

You'll get anywhere from $50 to $100 on ebay for it - just put the word rare in, and you may even get double that.

I've seen them go for a fair bit more surprisingly! I've got a few of the Tickford ones that I might stick on soon.

Either way it wouldn't make a difference though. XR6T as dok said is another matter :

No difference at all. If yours is a V8 won't it all ready have the XR8 snorkel? Stands to reason.

No, the Tickford snorkel was only fitted as standard to AU3 XR8s. On everything else, it was the standard smaller snorkel only.

When I fitted my XR Snorkel I had the same problem, it seems sometimes they have a little excess plastic in some areas. See the picture below I have marked the points where I had to shave the plastic with a stanley knife to get a snug fit, and to allow the snorkel to sink completley into the indentation in the radiator support.

Hope that helps

Adrian.

It's on! Apparently the small amount of filing on the flaps on the outside and the consent attempts to close the bonnet have paid off :P Woohoo!

No it won't have a Tickford symbol on it. For you see they used the same part from the AU3 XR8 as the part on the BA XR6T. And seeming Tickford has nothing to do with fords as far as I know since the end of the AU then it has no wings.

What's not the same?

The Tickford winged one is the same shape, size, etc as the BA XR6T one (I have one of each - snorkels, that is).

You will be hard pressed to get one with the wings on it from Ford, however mine is for sale for $100 to anyone that really wants it.

Part number ER 9A624 A is the small one standard on all I6s and non AU3 XR8s (so you don't want this one).

The part number you do want is the one above - BA 9A624 A. You can ask for the AU part number TAUTVE 9A624 A, but they are no longer stocked.

JC that's a good price mate, shouldn't have any probs getting that. I just stuck one of mine up on ebay on Monday - started it at 99 cents, and it's now sitting at $150 with 4 or 5 days to go.

That's a crazy price. But good luck to you for getting it! I originally bought 2 Tickford snorkels for the trade price of $27 - that was in 2001, IIRC. I should have bought a bloody box full.

Absolutely agree with you there mate!! Dunno if I'd be paying $150+ for a snorkel...

I guess you were right when you suggested adding the word rare in the listing lol!
