Smile Back in an EF...woohoo

Hi guys

Just a quick post to show off my new EF. After an unfortunate incident resulting in the write off of my beloved Gli (XR underneath), i have been EF less for a few months now. After much looking around I finally settled upon this here 95 EF XR6. It is from a fellow members (AU3XSR) boss....and has a well run in 320,000 kays on the clock LOL! To be honest the guy owned since it had 60k on it and it has had all the regular maintenence you'd expect...brakes are recently done, headgasket, recod the head, water pump, radiator all the usual EF suspects taken care of.

It has been very wet here in brisbane the last few days so here are some dodgy photos of the vehicle. Paint is in quite good nick, the odd scratch here and there, only one small ding i have found. Paint is a bit dirty, needs a wash and full detail (will update this thread when i get to it).

Specs are: 4.0 tickford I6, auto, 3.45 lsd stock set up. Exhaust replaced with 2.5inch cat back with single high flow. Wheels are the 15 inch alloys (they will go the way of the dodo in due course), so so tyres at present. Interior is all straight but a bit dirty at present. Has an aftermarket head unit (old one) but includes a 6stacker in the boot. Air/heater functional etc. etc. Drives quite well, much like my old car, but with a bit more go due to diff ratio and ticky head.

Keelan,

Great looking car, if I do say so myself.

Glad to see you are happy, as your old EF was a great car, but was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'm in two minds about my 15 inch wheels. I like the way they look on the car. The FTRs are everywhere, and, after all, the XR6 is no longer the boy racer car it once was. I think they'll stay, however it is going to get harder and harder to get a decent set of tyres for it, as I've already noticed.

Just make sure you keep the Water, and oil up to it, and it'll be a great car. The one thing you haven't told us - Auto or Manual?

Oh yeah, I call dibs on the 6 stacker if you want rid of it.

Ok guys. Here is the promised update. I have now given the exterior (paint mostly) a thorough once over. Still have some more stuff to work on to get it really clean but this will do for now. The pics taken are similar to the old ones so you can see the difference (i hope so...you can in the flesh believe me).

I have completed my first mod already....well kinda. I installed my old trip computer from the gli into the XR. After much training last time i reduced my install time to 2.5 hrs with troubleshooting, including removal/refit of dash. Not bad given i forgot to bring a copy of the instructions to the garage at the time LOL!

interior cleaning is next...which i'm sure will be much fun (not).
