Default Unusual rust...

Guys i've put new front disks on my car and for some reason there appears to be spots of rust on them, now I can easily rub them off but is it normal that rust would occur? The car isn't driven often.. but would that make a difference?

The disks are genuine ford AU3 ones. Also there is no rust on the rear ones.

Yeah I get that aswell from sitting in the weather for weeks. Its normal, comes off as soon as the pads grip/you rub it.

All rotors will get rust stains on them overnight if they get wet or condensation on them nothing to worry about a couple of applications of the brake wipes them clean again

I've been told rotors with high iron content will rust quickly. Look at the cars in a BMW dealership next time you go past, they're always rusty.

Yeah heaps of the cars on our yard have discs that look like they were made of rust. They are bare metal so will rust if not used.

Disks rusting on my GSR after rain, used to cause break shudder until the rust was eventually removed by brake use......... Caused by the fact that the disk would rust everywhere exept where the brake pads were situated.........

Yeh you got fresh shiny steel polished by the pads every time you brake. They all get a very fine coating of surface rust just sitting overnight. Well maybe not if you got very low humidity.
