I got mine yesterday and fitted it last night. Had to "repair" the airbox a bit with silicon - I had cut the lid a bit for my pod setup. Anyway, It's all good, and I've managed to keep my 3" induction pipe from the box to the TB, with about 6 inches of the 3" pipe actually in the lid sitting on top of the filter - sort of like a "super" EF lid, I suppose. The good thing is that by replacing the pod filter with the K&N panel filter, the throttle response has improved dramatically. Where before I would have to floor it to kick down to second, I am now able to half throttle it to get the same effect. Also winds out a lot better to red line, with no vibration above 5000rpm - all from replacing the air filter!

I also did a run holding the car in first, and the speedo showed 90km/h, at which point I manually changed up into second - can't believe it would go to 90 in first though, so I'm thinking the speedo was having a little "holiday" or something.

Anyway, given the choice between a monza/autotechnica/other generic brand Pod and the K&N panel - I will keep with the K&N.

Anyone want to buy a BMC CDA (basically an enclosed pod, similar to, but a bit smaller than, the BA XR8 pod in enclosed box. Has 3" entry and exit.) It's valued at over $300 new, sell for $150 and will post to anywhere in Oz at that price. I had it on the XR8 until I did the gas conversions, and the gas guy recommended I go back to a box as it's easier to fit a balance pipe in the box.

How did your mtr go as you changed into 2nd out those revs .Mine starts missing for a few seconds before powering off. I changed fuel filter, plugs & leads so I gather it must be the VCT ecu unit. It only does it if I manually change gears

Motor was fine. The "missing" is probably just the engine bouncing off the rev limiter, and is quite normal.

I'm getting a 3" Intake done as was considering goin to a pod. I wouldn't mind trying out your panel filter first. Should fit it's the same size box?. Maybe crack out your G-Tech and get some times down too

Speaking of K&N, how much difference do they make in an I6 VCT 99?
And how about the difference in a tickford snorkel?
Normal driving! Anybody got figures (of the digital kind)?

Maybe 1 rwkw, but better throttle response, and about 0.5 l per 1200km. Ie marginal, but better than stock filter.

They flow the air much better. But at the wheels a stock paper AC Delco one proved a 2rwkw gain. So exepting a bit more throttle response the gain is very small in out right performance
