Ford are soon to announce a near record profit for this year. Remarkable considering the number of cars lost through semi-conductor shortages, and covid problems. Somewhere in the region of $10 billion profit. Company is in the best financial position it has been for quite a while.

Won't see march

Could a big profit come from less discounting while stock is limited....if so I hope they don't learn the trick of other luxury brands where artificially limiting supply to keep prices high is a common practise.

No, it's more to do with selling higher numbers of more profitable models, and the introduction of new nameplates like Bronco Sport, Bronco and Maverick which are more profitable vehicles than the Fusions etc that they had to discount the **** out of just to sell. They didn't make much money on those, hence they stopped building sedans and moved to the more profitable SUV line up.

But I would assume their incentive spend (discount) on the in demand models was probably pretty low with demand being so high, so it's probably a small factor. Ford had the lowest incentive spend in recent years anyway, much smaller than what GM and FCA would throw at their cars and trucks to move them off dealer lots. But with those brand new models and the demand being so high, they wouldn't have offered incentives on them at this stage anyway. Especially when vehicles like Bronco have waiting lists blowing out to years, not just months. F150 Lightning already has a 3 year waiting list cause they just won't be able to build enough of them to satisfy demand.

Uhmm …

Is there GM in Europe now ?

The Several Billion $’s Ford have spent on their basically new plant in South Africa to produce Rangers for European consumption is a myth ?

Don’t troll please, there are a few here that deal with facts and not QAnon.

WTF. Ford of Europe have already announced plans to move to EV's in Europe, and the tie in with VW will allow them to share EV platforms. These announcements have already been made. And the Mach E has just gone into production in China.

Put down the crack pipe.

I often wonder what ill ever replace my ute with if i ever do (not really looking to atm). Even the newest falcon ute is 5 to 6 years old, and good ones are very hard to find. None of the ranger et al interest me in any way.

Whats a 'Bathurst' - irrelevant 'manufacturer' won an irrelevant race in an irrelevant racing series

Holden has become like what Chrysler did, people with their cars are going to be like Valliant owners, 10-20 years from now no one will know what they are and you'll hardly see any on the road and it'll be some eccentric group of car enthusiasts who when they die their kids will give away Dad's old ****box for free to the local high school for their auto class, or Melbourne museum because unleaded and internal combustion engines have been banned from use

That "irrelevant racing series" was watched by more TV viewers than the Melbourne cup this year.

Your comments re: the Valiant & the Holden would also apply to the Falcon would they not ?

Congratulations, Bathurst beat people watching an animal cruelty exhibition thats been on the decline for over a decade

Out of curiosity, what was the gambling revenue from Bathurst compared to the Melbourne Cup? This year Melbourne Cup had over $220 million dollars placed in bets from punters on a single day on only one race alone and gambling revenues across the four days of the Melbourne Cup carnival exceeded $700 million dollars.

Australian punters splurged more than $220m on the Melbourne Cup as a part of a record betting bonanza across the four days of the Flemington carnival.

The Victoria Racing Club reported domestic betting turnover of $724.1 million, a rise of 7.6 per cent on last year’s figures, for the four meetings of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The difference is Ford still exists in Australia

Yes, but both my points are still valid. Supercars racing is not "irrelevant" & Falcons have gone the way of Valiants, Holdens & the Dodo bird.
