There's some really great replies on the last page concerning our ability to make things and the neglect that this has suffered. Franco when you did the methanol injection did you need all sorts of extra fuel tanks/different starting procedures?

I've read WW2 stories of bombers using water injection to extend their range.

It's good to hear IPL will get support and go ahead with a plant. This whole thing is bittersweet as I worked on a NW WA gas to ammonia project that was enormous in scale, and the whole thing had fell through last time I heard. (Before my time, similar story, BHP's HBI plant as well). With the gas project, there is no shortage of it at all.

I'd be in favour of CNG for our trucking fleet, surely that is possible with current tech and our resources.

Also, does Gippsland have a Fischer-Tropsch plant or is that something of the past? (Coal to diesel)

And, how many E85 plants do we have? There's one in QLD, is there also one in Vic?

The most economical way to obtain alcohol is to build a still and distill it yourself. You can legally distill alcohol fuel (but not alcohol to drink) by obtaining a permit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms.
dunno how that would go here tho
