The Prado is still poor value and I think Ford are using Toyota over-pricing to justify this pricing of the Everest. Time will tell..

Even the base model comes very well loaded in terms of spec. They can justify the price based on that, and it undercuts the top spec Prados, which is what they are positioning it against.

The base model is adequately specced for the money, nothing amazing.

It is a wagonised Thai built ranger ute , its more of a Toyota Fortuner competitor not Prado. Buyers may see the value there still as I'm betting it will be better than the Fortuner.

Be interesting to see how Toyota prices the Hilux based Fortuner.

Ford price gouging ,again. I would have thought Titanium max $$ around $65-$70k, sales will be interesting. Price needs revising.

Looking at these prices for off-road vehicles I no longer feel guilty about buying a BMW as a road car

I bet they're not finished as nicely for the same money as a BM though.

Titaniums look good inside. The Base model will look cheap like the Rangers do now.

The Trend will be the pic. Priced well and pretty good on the features.

Well the prices quoted certainly sees me out of the market. I was expecting Territory pricing plus about $10k which would put the base model at about $53-$54k drive away.

While I agree they are priced probably 10g to high, you can't get an X5 for that money. An X5 starts at about 100k for the base 4cyl and goes up to over 150k. Also an X5 isn't something that I would consider a serious off roader. Wouldn't be cross shopped for mine, an X5 isn't something I would buy to go camping in, driving on the beach etc..

X5 can go offroad, nothing like a Land Rover Discovery though.

The base model has unpainted door handles and mirrors for a $61k car?

Might be the base model, but they could at least make it look bit more upmarket than a base Ranger ute.

LR Disco would be my choice in that range ~$80k I cross shopped pajero/disco last time. Pajero still represents good value even though it must be getting close to 15 years in that body shape.... robust which needs a refresh! I think pricing on everest will be revised closer to release down by 10% i think.

The Titanium goes up against the Prado Kakadu where you are looking at 95K.
it wasn't that long ago they were over 100K. so they have dropped

These things are Robust 4WD and full of Tech. and will be quite a different drive to the base models

agreed Ambiente sounds a bit soft for such a car

Don't think many pay full retail on any of mainstream cars - RRP is there to make you feel good when you buy Kakadu for 83-84k driveway . You walk away feeling like you scored a good deal on a expensive car.
Everest will undoubtedly be sold bellow RRP or at least we hope it will.

Ford would be looking at jeep as a big competitor too,
A limited in diesel is late 60's, and an overland is late 70's, and Laredo is late 50's, this is fairly similar to where Everest sits.

The best part of lct is the discount,

as an example, your on a titanium, say the dealership is able to move $2000 on there profit margin, in doing this, they can actually move $2660.

As the car came down in the lct threshold by that $2000, they don't have to pay the extra charge.

The Kakadu costs 82 grand and I doubt the Everest competes with that. Kakdi has KDSS that decouples the roll bars off road for greater articulation, and tightens on road. CRAWL, adjustable rear air suspension, off road cameras or negotiating steep or narrow tracks, fridge and the usual Prado things like 150 litre fuel tanks. The Kakadu is very good. Prado VX at 72 grand may be a closer match.

Kakadu is 95 grand on road

read the article Ford recon they have features it doesn't have. it has anti roll back etc

But having a Prado Grande myself one of the best features is the adjustable air suspension looks like the Ford is missing this..
Oh and I do like the fridge for a couple of Cold ones

It has a lot of tech stuff the Prado doesn't have though. And it's 10k cheaper.

Hasn't been stated anywhere yet, but the claimed range leads to what you would expect to be the same 80L as ranger

"Sitting atop the range is the $76,990 Everest Titanium, which brings 20-inch wheels, LED daytime running lights, panoramic sunroof, eight-way adjustable power front seats, leather trim, sat-nav and tyre pressure monitoring system."
Is the $16k above Trend really $16k value ???? I don't think so, $10k maybe..Trend should have electric drivers seat..Numerous reports are querying Fords Everest pricing,,Ford says "its the extra equipment Everest has that the competitors dont have, reason for higher price" time will tell if Ford is correct..Its going to be a hard sell for Titanium...

Going off of these figures, they claim upto 1100km from a tank, below that they state 7.0L/100km extra urban economy, this would work out to be 77L tank
