Had a neighbour that had one of those done up ~25 years ago to look similar to a Charger. Beautiful machine and the shape lends itself well to a good lick of paint and some nice wheels, IMO.

Was a very warm 265 with triple SU's. Went like stink.

A bit of a roadside find I spotted today.

There were quite a few the camera didn't pick up, I wasn't keen to get close. If you look closely you can see the distinctive cats eyes of a '59 Chevrolet Impala/Bel Air and a '70s Celica. I wonder what the big bronze American thing is, a Galaxie I'm guessing?

It's in such a prominent spot on the highway there I wouldn't be suprised if he gets quite a few people stopping by and asking about those cars every week.

Poor farmers......

They all whinge about doing it tough but most seem have enough cash to be able to just wheel decent old cars into the back paddock or chook shed and let them rot.

Can someone explain that to me.

If it wasn't for farmers keeping these cars from the crusher albeit in their paddocks, especially when they were worth nothing, where would we all be.

Do you know if the old international is for sale? A mate of mine loves these and would probably be keen on saving it.

Their still out there. Heard from a workmate about 2 falcons sitting in a paddock near Trafalgar for $50 each, it was a sweet deal so i picked them up. The first is the xa, what a machine. Sat for 23 years but i said i will take both, i almost felt sick winching the thing onto the trailer but it almost ran haha. Might be able to get a couple of parts off it. I will show the other car i got in my next post.

G'day again, here's the 2nd of the two barn finds i brought. It's a 1970 XY Fairmont, it has it's original engine, a 250 (HC), rust wise it isn't too bad at all, it starts and drives, not very well though, but, it's good enough to move around the place, it's been sitting for 8 years next to the Xa, it was used on a horse track. It's going to be a project for me and my 13 year old son, as it's for him. I'm wrapped! What a find!

not so much a barn find, more a country property find haha country nsw is all i will say... im going to work up there soon so i might find some more...
but theres an xm ute, which looks to have been quite a hotrod back in the day, has a four speed manual, yes 4, i checked them myself by hand lol
also has a 6, unsure of size but it was only a log manifold etc with extractors and different model seats, although im not sure what model exactly, possible fairlane or something... they looked too plush to be ute seats, and this would have had a bench originally?
no interior pics though as yet i discovered the doors were unlocked after i put the phone back in my pocket and forgot...
located at my wifes grandparents place, theres also an xa sedan thats had a tree fall on it, a kingswood wagon, beetle, a corolla coupe and some other random cars...
now once i have property i will be taking it, if he lets me haha and restoing it slowly...
story is 7 years ago, only 6 months before i came into the family and visited the place, a wrecker came in over a week or so with two tilttrays and took about 20 cars, so if this is what they left i dont want to know what was there before :(
theres also a desoto ute, never seen one before in my life, id also like to resto this but wouldnt now where to start...
these things were there when they bought the property in 92, so i dont know how long they were there before that... if the trees could talk lol
being country nsw, they arent TOO BAD rust wise, certainly need repairing but overall repairable...

Back in the day , the cars that are worth abit now, were worth nothin or close to it
How many people would bother fixing an old car, that at the time a complete driving example could be had for say $50
Its really no different to say people with VN,XFs, corollas nowadays that arent worth much
My ol neighbour in the late 60s bought from the local wrecker a regoed, drive away FC holden with half a tank of juice for under a hundred
Rego, juice from a wrecker, hate to know what the wrecker paid for it, to sell for the hundred and make money on the deal
Id say its due to the urban sprawl how all these semi remote places are being found
There were plenty of farms in the inner brissie CBD area that were full of the old stuff, that now is just housing estates
For all the interest around re all the old stuff lying around, theres still plenty getting crushed daily

Yep, given the odd way Australians are willing to pay massive amounts of cash for clunkers that anywhere else in the world would be worth a couple of hundred bucks, that guy is sitting on a gold mine. I'm sure I'm not the only one who sits and watches American TV shows like "Mecum Auto Auctions" and those ones where they find old cars and cries as you see cars that, in Australia, would be sold for $30,000+ going for well under ten grand...
That old Celica would be worth a grand or two alone, not to mention the '59 Chev I could see there or the FB/FC ute. Hold an auction and the bloke could retire...

I drive past this place all the time. A few years back he started out with one or two cars and its just grown and grown. I wonder if he's pulling them out from the old Avoca wreckers. Last time I saw the dude that lives there he was looking like something from zz-top and driving either an impala or pontiac. Can't remember, but it was BIG.

That Falcon ute is beautiful. I love the colours. Everything about it is awesome. And it would make a lovely resto, and a glorious cruising car. Do what you can to save it.

Years ago - XPO88 in Brisbane, 1 old guy had hundreds of cars (mostly suitable for restoration) stored in a warehouse at the now Southbank. When he was told to relocate, he sold some & stored as many as he could at friends & relies places in suburban Brisbane, the rest to the scrappers. He lived at Park Road & had the best of his stuff there. Nothing was for sale (cars or parts) - I tried many times as my brother lived next door to him & were both doing up EH's & drove my first Mk1 Cortina. Now all this stuff gone - suburban eyesores removed or cleaned up.

It is different isn't it, but I liked it 5 years ago when I saw it and it hasn't changed or moved lol I'll be working up near there soon so I'll be visiting the family so I'll take it home one day, hopefully when we move out of Sydney lol
