I'm not a Prado fan either. They are ok, but quite plain for the dollars. Like most Toyotas. |

Taking on prados and hiluxes is a big ask.
You might think toyotas are boring and you might think their reputation for reliability is overstated, but I am pretty sure that a car company with a reputation for reliability is more attractive to people going off road than a company associated with V8s at Bathurst and people doing sick burnouts at the traffic lights. And while I admit most people buying a 4wd never even see a dirt road, I suspect that they like to think they will kne day. The Ranger is doing exceedingly well and that will trickle down into other offerings. I think most people are after comfort and technology these days, something fords have lacked. Mondeo definitely changes that and I expect we will see it spreading. In footy terms, the team is in a rebuilding phase. They're not going to win the premiership this year, but they have just retired a couple old stalwarts and are now looking for the young blood to step up their game, show their potential and become new fan favourites so they can add another trophy in a few years. Hopefully the rich team down the road who always seems to spend a lot but never breach the salary cap won't go poaching the new stars. |

how well did Ranger sell when it first got to market? its taken a few years for them to get to this point. ford's job is not to sell the most cars, but to sell cars for profit. on recent reports, i think they'd be pretty happy with how things are going. |

Word on the street is that Holden are in trouble.
Dealer networks are packed full of cars they cant move and they are throwing ridiculous amounts of money in marketing and dealer incentives for the market share they are currently at |

Who would like to see Nelson from the Simpsons walk into Holden HQ and point at them and go Ha Ha?

Fords increase of 18% is quite impressive though even if it is Ranger driven.

My Boss just bought and had delivered 4 cruzes for the fleet, he normally takes upto 6 months to make a decision so the dealer can sweat, but did the deal straight away, so keen was holden to do a deal. The holden fleet manager says he cant give em away at the moment.

Not surprising really. Ford have some great products at the moment, new Mustang, Ford Ranger/Everest, Mondeo, Focus RS etc.
Holden's offerings IMO are not particularly appealing or competitive in the current market, except maybe the Commodore and HSV models. However that's the point, once they cease local production Holden doesn't really have a lot of appeal. Maybe they need to relaunch under GM name and sell US GM products such as Camaro, Corvette, Cadillacs and GMC. |

Yes : you can get the MY 16 Captiva LTZ , with diesel nco, 3 years free servicing , a saving of $2500. For : $39,990:00 drive away. good price.!! LTZ now has 7 " Apple Car Play or Android version, heated front seats, leather appointed seats, 8 way electric driver's seat, 19" allloy 235/50 `R19" wheels, Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 8 speaker audio. We might think the Captiva is crap but Holden have given it value for the money...Most other SUV's with that level of equipment are $45k plus.....

Ford mucked up on the pricing of the Everest. Trying to compete with Prado when it is obviously more a Fortuna/Pajero Sport compeditor ie. 50k to 70k not 70k to 95k.

The car is a guiness world record holder LEMON. I'm not into the SUV scene at all, yet I know the car is a nightmare. How could someone buying it not know? No wonder the Australian car building industry has fallen over with people making buying choices as bad as that.

I am not a fan of Toyota in general. To me they are a very lazy company that relies almost soley on reputatio to sell their products.

I found interesting that the AU was the last falcon to outsell Commodore. Even the BA couldn't repeat the effort by the mighty AU.
