Agreed. They have hired pretty heavily the last 12 months or so.

Doesnt mean they are immune, but it will be interesting to see what projects get split between the facilities.

Their problem is they're heavily weighted to the ranger/everst program. But the positive is that it makes money and sells in high numbers and that it's constantly expanding variants.

Mind you if they got another program of the ranger platform size they wouldnt have the room.

Off-shoring is always about quantity not quality.

It's supply and demand of labour. Also they don't just give full time employment in case they hire duds.

Then they would be going to Thailand, or south Africa.

Exactly - and it applies to most industries these days.

We have a number of contract graduates - if they are any good, they progress to full time employment at the end of their contract.

We also hire blue-collar casuals for some of our plants when things ramp up - but they are told from the start that it's only while times are good, and given plenty of notice when things will start to slow down. Some of our best full-ime guys started as casuals during a busy period.

It's the smart way of hiring & firing when employment laws are so tough these days, and make it almost impossible to get rid of bad apples.
