I spoke to a mate today that had a s/wheel fitted by Ford for $48.00 and thought it was strange that I was quoted the hourly price so he told me to go back and check on it. I did and he was right. The guy said that quote of $97.50 was wrong. It will infact cost only $44 for them to do it. Then when I got home I had a message waiting for me from a mechanic saying $40 "but maybe a bit less depends on how quick I can do it for you Kristeena" he said. So yeah, $40 it'll cost - I'm happy with that!

Booked it in for next Friday. Will post up pics when it's done

Yeah my mate (Ford mechanic) did mine in under 10 minutes. I would let ford do it, would hate to think any mechanic who may not know what they are doing possibly not plugging something back in right to do with the airbag.

Not legally. If the car came with an airbag, it must always have an airbag.

Fairmont_Krissy - $40 sounds like a better price. I hope the wheel turns up by next Friday! lol.

The Woodgrain Momo has found a new home with Krissy, and the new Black/Grey one for the Forte Wagon turned up today. $225 including postage from Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage. Another useless post without pics, so here's a pic:

you should matt black your airbag.

get some VHT satin black colour dye and do the airbag and the back cover.
the die will deeply penetrate the airbag cover which is great (wont rub off), but not the plastic cover on the back so you have to be careful not to scratch it when fitting..

ive just done the airbag on my AU Fairlane sportsman wheel thats going into the NC, but ive left the leather on the wheel grey because it matches my seats.

Yeh thought of that but I will bide my time to find a black air bag.
Just in case I sell the car I would remove the wheel and refit the grey one.
So thats why I have not gone the dying route.

Looks nice JC. I like the chrome door levers and the bit around the gear selector. Is your car a series 1? YOu've got a series 2 cluster. Did you put that on yourself, or did you paint it black? It stands out really nice from the dash. Steering wheel looks a treat also!

It's a series 2 - only mod I've done to the cluster is blue & red LEDs. Thanks for the comments - I like it too!

Have you got a pic of how the blue and red leds light up at night. I want to do blue apart from the whole needles not lighting up problem

The s/wheel is in and it looks AWESOME!! Here are BEFORE and AFTER shots but really the photos don't do it justice. It looks alot better than how it shows up in the pictures.

JC I put the woodgrain trim in but didn't really like it so I'll send it back to you. You'll have to PM me your address details again please.

The trim for around the t-bar George. I replaced my grey one with the woodgrain but it didn't look good against the nickel surround. Also, I'm not a huge fan of woodgrain as it is (I am now though lol) and it just looked a bit too much. I think there's enough woodgrain in there now and if I put more then I feel like it might spoil it - don't wanna go over the top, know what I mean?!
