Had a great drive with really good twisties and long straights. Lunch was alright.

Was certainly a good cruise today.Brought back memories of the good old days when I used to run down that road, when I was doing express work out of Brisbane. It was good to meet up with some old faces and great to meet some new people from the forums. We will have to do another cruise soon.

I now understand why Putty road has such a good reputation....very nice bit of tarmac

Its a shame the EB Fairy didn't quite make it. The auto had been behaving a little weird, and its got an unknown number of Km's on it (odometre is broken at 198,000), so I suppose it was only a matter of time.

Thanks to Ben and George and everyone else that helped out. Now to find an honest mechanic in Singleton to take it to....shouldn't be too hard?

Hi All,

Most certainly was a top day for an awesome run up Putty.. Thoroughly enoyed the run and I am glad the two Euro guys had a ball too!!!!

Great to see some new faces and catch up with the familar crowd.

XR8ute & stiddy, it's a bugger about the car! That's worst thing to happen.. Glad we could help out, and hopefully it's something minor and easy to fix.

Looking forward to next run... South this time..

Cheers
Ben

Your not wrong. Its an akward place for a car to crap out :(

I wonder if its the torque converter thats stuffed. Just no drive through the gearbox at all...i guess i'll find out soon enough.

Next time I should be there in the ute, with a nice new (reliable) gearbox

Thanks XR8Cobra...I figure its going to cost me a bit :(

I wasn't sure wether to send it to Honeys or CK Auto Repairs, so I flipped a coin and Honey's got the job. They are just going to I guess if the quote is real nasty, I can tow it somewhere else.

Sorry I missed the cruise guys, I had brake issues, got them on Saturday but didnt end up putting them on till Sunday. Looks like you guys had a ball, again, but unfortunate for some, hope the gearbox gets fixed soon.

But now its all sorted will hopefully be ready for next cruise.

Pete thats the second putty run youve missed!!!!!!!! 3rd time lucky and you make it aye :P'

on the gearbox side - was it selecting reverse at all or not selecting any drive gears? if it was selecting reverse you probably just fried the forward clutches if it lost reverse too could be just the converter.

No reverse either...if it did, i probably would have driven it home backwards :P

Cheapest 2nd hand box I can find is $850 (out of a 97 LTD), and will cost another hundred to ship it to the workshop in Singleton. This is most likely the way i'll go to get it fixed...
