XT... I know it had a 30mb HDD and a 5 1/4" drive... no idea of the rest of the specs though.

My first computer was the Tandy Colour Computer 3. I remember hooking it up to the TV, chucking the game in the tape drive, and then going to have lunch while i waited for Donut Dilemma or Quix to load. Ahh, those were the days, i miss my old CoCo3.

The first one i remember playing was a typing computer where you plugged the keyboard and the console into the tv, and then saw what you typed.. it was awesome lol (13yrs ago it was)
The first computer was a 386 and i can remember playing classics such as scorcher, wolf 3d and duke nukem... Jazz jack rabit jumped in here and there too... Had to wait for a 486 to play Doom.. was worth the wait.. no game has matched it since IMO.

Something bought from Dick Smith or Tandy, Keyboard had tape deck built into it and used to play great games like Frogga. First PC that really kicked it off for me was my Amiga 500 which I still have and it still works perfectly.

well mine was a pentium 4 1.8 bought it just before 2. came which i didnt now ortherwise had waited anyways in full details
with 60gb . 512mb ram, 128 mb of g-force graphics card best of its time, gigabyte mother board, creative 5.1 sound card, modem, usb, dvd rom, cd burner, 17inch monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, windows XP with loads of other pro softwares. !!! and all this just 2+ yrs back........ you can see how far tech has come today though

Sinclair ZX-81 (about the size of a small laptop) - about 1981. I learnt BASIC on it

Like you Des, I had a black and white screen with a tape deck in it. Never could afford one with a floppy disk drive, the graphics were somewhat chunky and 'blocky' if you could explain it that way. I had games like 'armoured tank', 'space wars', 'olympic decathlon', and other povo pack games. this was in the era when every kid on the corner had a C64. Each tape would take about 1/2 an hour to load, it was rediculous, and if it didnt load, the usual 'syntax error' came up. Friggin stupid thing! :P

Some REALLY old huge grey IBM, with a black and orange screen. It had Lotus installed, and if I wanted to play games they ran off the old 5 1/4' disks.

i remember my older brother getin a commo 64 for christmas one year.
hes probly still got it lol that was the first puter i messed with though the power of datacasset (i think thats what it was called)will haugnt me forever lol |

Mine was a Microbee in 1983, I forget the specs but it did have a tape player to load up programs which took forever.

100mb HDD 2 x 5.25" slots 13" monitor VGA Video Card 2) Used the old XT bits and upgraded to..... 286 64Mhz (I think) 100mb HDD (I think) 5.25" slot and normal floppy disk slot. Same 13" monitor Same VGA video card But now with a printer card and a dot matrix printer. 3) Pentium II MMX 200Mhz (0.2Ghz) 32MB RAM !!!!! 2.4GB HDD 24x CD ROM drive Floppy drive 8mb Video card 15" Monitor Bubble Jet Printer 4) Pentium 4 2.4Ghz 512MB RAM 40GB HDD 48x16x48 CD Burner 52x DVD Player Floppy Drive 17" Monitor 128MB Graphics Card Still using the same Bubble Jet Printer as I was 9 years ago (CANNON BJC210SP) he he he Mike

Had a comodore 128 with the big Floppy discs....
I still had the tape deck for Summer Games, Winter Games ( remember the Atari joysticks..... Hand on top and getting blisters!!) California Games was all time number one game. BMX and surfing were the shizzle. Had to love 'Copying' games on ur tape player too.. lol. load"*",8,1 (sorry had to do that one more time..) |

My first pc was
IBM 8088 Personal Computer: 12" IBM CGA Monitor. 20MB MFM Hard Disk (The computer had two floppy drives by default) 8-bit CGA Graphics Card 8-bit Creative Sound Blaster (Their very first product) IBM 101 key XT Keyboard 2 Button Microsoft Serial Mouse DOS 3.1 I fondly remember it took nearly 2 minutes to POST. Ah, memories. |
