'R' Plates for nervous drivers

2 months ago I had an FG2 G6E (maybe turbo, don't know) clearly turning right in a roundabout without the indicators on... I mean, the car's front end was pointed right at me, so I went to stop, until I realised, with the heavy rain we currently have, they were sliding straight through with the computer correction kicking in just in time.

They were not indicating left or right, as I could see both the mirror indicators, that was obvious. I now sometimes indicate out of a roundabout, but only well after passing the exit I'm not using.

And I've never been that out of control!

For some reason this thread reminds me of when my brother got told off hard by his mates extremely religious mum. As a P plater his number plates were unt-###. So he flipped his p plate turning it into a d plate and stuffed it in to hide the stalk of the d, turning it into a c plate. No imagination required.....

Yeah, that came a feux law in around 2003. I did my P's test in 2004. Only time i ever indicated out of a roundabout. Not even the police do it. Its one of those somebody nobody cares about trying to make a name for themself rules, and nobody cares.

Proposed R plates are really no different to L plates if you think about it. No skin off my nose if someone wants to stick one on. In fact, I'd prefer it so I can give them a bit more space and prepare for unexpected movement......just like you would with L plates.

Heres an oddball question. So an L plater is coverd by the insurance of the supervising driver. What will insurance companies do to R plate drivers? Or will they just jack the prices for everyone as insurance companies do?

We're lucky enough to have locality prefix rego plates over here, helps id the locals and from the tourists.
Works both ways though.
If you see a country plate in the city, they'll be lost or going slow like its a parade lap of the towns main street.
If you see a generic plate in the country, they'll be lost too but will be speeding like its a parade lap of a city street

Yep, WA is that way, used to love my country plates. Going with country plates to the OBH for a drink in the city in Cott Nice and slow.

I'm a regional VIC driver but I identify as a Western Sydney driver
