I’ll admit that wherever you drive past a Ford dealership, there’s usually multiple Rangers sitting out front

Bottom line, if you go into Ford now and want to buy a Ranger, I doubt that there’s a flood of cars waiting to be bought…
It's done and dusted beyond any demo stock. The books for new gen are full for months. It's not a shortage of buyers, it's a shortage of stock.

Drive already quoting dealers as saying they have 6 months worth of orders already.

Didn’t the outgoing models production finish early to mid March ?

Turns out Tesla's numbers are from the whole year, not just march.

Do they ever tell the truth?

They aren't. 4417 is the yearly number. 3097 was March. Literally in the publications that says exactly that.

I'll await you accepting you got that wrong.

My local Mitsi dealer said "its only a month, wait for Pajero Sport. 3 coming in May." and apparently, Nissan has caught up with Patrol orders? Who knows what the real story is on shortage.

Seems odd to have a ytd of 4417 and March alone of 3097

Maybe it’s like my situation. Ordered 2 containers of material for start of Feb and mid March back in Dec’21. Got nothing in Feb and nothing was coming in March according to supplier and then both containers arrive late March stuffing up our storage space.

Not really. We are a tiny market for them. They sold 300,000 plus cars in Q1 and 4000 odd in Australia. We don't get a steady supply because most of the production is skewed to the Chinese market. They do our orders in batches so some months will have multiple ships arrive and others will only have 1 ship arrive.

If we were LHD, it might've been better but can't beat Chinese demand.

No it’s not, think about it……
This is not “sales”, it’s two ships arriving in the same month and delivering already sold cars to buyers.
Tesla is up to nine months wait on vehicles, they need to start ramping up deliveries and start offering the Y,
that would really get sales going…..

By my estimate, Tesla sales have increased 50% this year and that’s only with the 3.
A second gigafactory is being built in China to produce the Y, maybe 12 months away..

The trend has been to deliver 1,000 a month, something controlled by shipping,
If wait times are now blown out from four months to nine, that would explain
why YTD deliveries are only 3,000 odd….

Tesla doesn’t divulge deliveries but it seems someone leaked info and sounds like
they hashed the message…

So if PX3 production ended last month, will we start seeing new models later this month?

For the last time, that was the 4417 number, not the 3097.

It was incorrectly marked as third then corrected to 5th

Its 3,000 odd YTD, not for March, they didn’t report Jan or Feb and this is the Cumulative total I was told.

Tesla have changed their position and are giving numbers to Vfacts moving forward. Problem arose when people/publications mixed up the March number of 3097 with the YTD number 4417.

Well now that Tesla has agreed to share data, I’m sure that we’ll get verification of at least quarterly and year to date sales. The fact that Musk sees fit to share data is because he wants to show people the rise of Tesla, I think it’s hurting German lux sales.

Yeah, that's what I think as well. They finally have meaningful numbers worth sharing.

4417 or 3097 sales, it doesn’t matter for now but if the Q2 figure is over 8,000, you can bet Tesla will be crowing about it. Australian buyers really wants the Tesla Y crossover, so the sooner Tesla gets that here the better for sales increase.

I believe orders will open in the next few days. Was supposed to be last week but was pushed for some reason. I can't imagine it will be much longer.

Same issue though in that Y demand is so high overseas, it makes little sense supplying our market. The Standard model coming in under the Rebate cap for most states is deliberate as well. $67,999 plus on roads. Pretty decent value there.

Imagine if state and federal governments started buying Teslas for their fleets, the government auctions would look very different in a few years time….

I hear that Tesla is just commenced building a second gigafactory in China but understand these take a while to come on line but shows intent to grow production and sales both in China and in our region.

We have a Tesla Powerwall 2, and a top level solar system that feeds that battery perfectly, we don’t pay for power from the grid, and we also offset our gas bills with our grid export credits. The thought of a system like ours, integrated with a Model Y is a bit tantalising.

Our system was expensive, but it gives us peace of mind.

Tesla have actually visited us a couple of times to review our system installation, check the quality, and rate the promised delivery performance.

We won’t be going Euro Lux, that’s for sure. If a Tesla makes sense we’re probably sold.

I don't think Powerwall 2 integrates well with the cars as they stand. They're also too small and don't do 3 phase. Thats said, it could work as long as you're not in a rush to charge with the powerwall providing a steady output for the Solar.

I wish we got the Powerwall+ but as usual, we miss out locally. Tesla wont do V2G/H and I wouldn't use a car battery cycles for home use. I wouldn't mind being able to use it in an outage though.

Regarding charging directly from our battery, that is superfluous, as we have a lot of credits, and can just use the grid for overnight charges while the house runs on the battery.

The best part of our system is the App / software for monitoring and chasing the “best cost fit” via AI. A car with that kind of a software application would be amazing.

Yeah, the Tesla doesn't have that for the cars yet. Maybe with the new Gen 3 charger, that might happen. For now, getting the super off peak from powershop is the cheapest option outside of a sunny day.

We were waiting for Powerwall 3, but that is probably 4 or 5 years away now (after our installation) and may “dove tail” nicely with a vehicle purchase especially if they really are integrated.
